Advocacy Services
Our Advocacy Service is here to support you to have your voice heard, understand your options, and take action to secure your rights or access the services you need.
We work alongside you, offering clear information, practical support, and guidance so you can make informed choices about your life, health, and wellbeing.
You can get in touch with Gail Worsey who leads our Advocacy Service using the details below:
About the service
The Advocacy Service is led by Gail Worsey, who has been providing independent advocacy support since March 2008.
The service is free and confidential for anyone living or working in Sandwell who is deaf, deaf-blind, hard of hearing, or has any level of deafness.
If you or the person you wish to refer lives outside of Sandwell, please contact us for further information and costs.
The Advocacy Worker will:
- Contact you as soon as possible by email, text message, or video call
- Arrange to meet at SDCA or at a location that feels comfortable and convenient for you
- Take time to understand your situation and what matters most to you
- Agree with you how advocacy can support you and clearly explain what you can expect
- Support you while ensuring you remain in control of all decisions
Referrals
Anyone can make a referral to the Advocacy Service, including:
- You (self-referral)
- Friends or family members
- Colleagues or carers
- Health and social care professionals
- Adult and Children’s Services
- Housing services
- Police or solicitors
Everyone should be supported to understand their rights and make their own choices. Our advocacy service is here to make that possible.
