Communication Service

SDCA Communication Service provides BSL Interpreters, Interpreters for Deafblind people, Notetakers and Lipspeakers in a variety of settings such as medical appointments, work meetings, training courses, job centre appointments, school meetings, public events, social services, police and legal settings etc.

Standards

All of the communication professionals that we use (Interpreters, Notetakers etc) are registered with the NRCPD (National Register of Communication Professionals working with Deaf and Deafblind People) and agree to abide by their Code of Conduct. This ensures that they are safe to practice, have DBS clearance, hold valid Professional Indemnity Insurance and follow confidentiality guidelines at all times.

24/7

The Communication Service offers a 24/7 ‘Out of Hours’ service for emergencies. If you need an interpreter outside of office hours please call or text on 07885 913 225

Interpreters at SDCA

Drop-in sessions are held at SDCA every week where an interpreter will be available to translate letters, bills, make telephone calls, book appointments etc. Drop-in times are on Thursdays and Fridays between 09:00 and 12:00. No need to book — just turn up and you will be seen on a first come, first served basis.
