SDCA delivers a range of training courses and learning packages and have delivered several years of Deaf Awareness training and Sign Language courses. All our courses are delivered by experienced and qualified tutors. We deliver training to many front line services such as local council, healthcare providers, businesses and organisations.

Our bespoke training courses are tailored to meet the individual or groups’ requirements to maximise your learning and be more confident in communicating with deaf people.

 

 

 

Signature’s Level 1 Award in British Sign Language

This course is accredited qualification of the basic level of British Sign Language and to achieve this qualification, all learners must achieve three assessments.

Level 1 Award in British Sign Language can be taken without any previous BSL experience at any level. This qualification allows learners to gain basic skills and confidence in the two areas of production and reception of BSL.

This course is suitable for those who:
want to learn basic language skills to communicate simple conversations with Deaf people
want to learn new language skills as part of a programme of study
want to progress to more advanced study and/or employment using

BSL in the future are studying for personal development are parents, family, friends or colleagues of Deaf people.

Level 1 Award in British Sign Language is suitable for all ages, including pre-16.

Signature’s Level 2 Award in British Sign Language

In order to study this qualification, you are required to pass Level 1 Award and to pass this qualification , you will be required to go through three units.

Level 2 Certificate in British Sign Language is suitable for those who:

wish to achieve language skills at an intermediate level to improve communication with Deaf people are Deaf and wish to gain a qualification in their native language are family, friends and colleagues of Deaf people want to progress from Level 1 study in BSL, and who may want to progress to more advanced levels of study in BSL at a later date are studying for personal development. Signature’s Level 3 Award in British Sign Language

Level 3 Certificate in British Sign Language (BSL) caters for the learning

needs of those who already have competence in BSL at Level 2. IN order to get a place in the course, you will be required to do assessment to ensure that you are ready. The assessment will identify your strength and weaknesses and you will be given recommendations on how to improve your skills. Successful completion of this qualification can be used as evidence of the language skills needed in order to be able to operate independently and at anadvanced level in the target language. It is useful for those who work on aregular basis with Deaf people (for example social workers, teachers of the Deaf, communicators, voluntary workers, workers within Deaf organisations, schools, etc) or those who aspire to work in these contexts.

Bespoke Half Day British Sign Language

If you are unsure that a full British Sign Language course is suitable for you and are only interested in need to know signs then this training is suitable for you. All bespoke trainings are tailored to your organisation needs to ensure that you are able to use the basic British Sign Language in need to know basis.

Bespoke Full Day British Sign Language

This training is tailored to your organisation requirements and in the end of the training, you and your work colleagues will be able to introduce yourself in British Sign Language and recognise basic British Sign Language. The full day training will give you time to familiarise yourselves to sign vocabularies

Full Day Deaf Awareness Training

This full day training course, are for people, who are uncertain on how to work with deaf people and wants to learn in steady pace with lot of reinforcements. This training are packed full of information about Deafness, communications tactics, sign language and lip reading.  The training will engage and entertain whilst providing a valid and valuable learning tool. In the end of the training, learners should be able to work with deaf people with confidence.

Half Day Deaf Awareness Training

This training is for people, who are uncertain on how to work with deaf or hard of hearing people. In the end of the course, learners will be deaf aware and will be able to know how to work with deaf people or with people with hearing loss. This full day training course, are for people, who are uncertain on how to work with deaf people and wants to learn in steady pace with lot of reinforcements. This training are packed full of information about Deafness, communications tactics, sign language and lip reading.  The training will engage and entertain whilst providing a valid and valuable learning tool. In the end of the training, learners should be able to work with deaf people with confidence.
